"20-plus years ago a displaced Bluenoser in Vancouver thought he wasn't seeing enough branded umbrellas in Lotus Land so he called up the biggest umbrella company he could find in the Yellow Pages and told them that if they didn't start selling more he was going to start his own promotional umbrella company.
They hired him that afternoon.

Andrew Mackay of Nova Scotia's Graphic Language Company, that very same insubordinate Bluenoser, joined the Talbot Marketing team this month.

From his stint flogging brollies on the West Coast he moved back East to raise his family and grow a business providing copy writing, ad and packaging development and design and promotional programs to clients across Canada, Bermuda and a smattering in the U.S. and E.U.

Tony the Gander an Emben GooseAndrew calls the seaside community of Hubbards, Nova Scotia home with a goose, a gander, three one laying hens, a dog, one cat and a varying number of teenage and 20-something kids, not all of whose names he recognizes.

He has the dubious distinction of being Ross Lloy's very first logo customer back in the day and spent a few years working alongside him in the industry in Halifax.

He remains good friends with Spencer Gray of B.C.'s TAG Umbrella and is "as excited as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs" to join Talbot's ranks.

When we asked him what took him so long to come to his senses, he answered that he figures he's given quite enough of his clients' money to Ross."
